Have you considered interning with CARE (Campus for Awareness and Relationship Education)! We offer 2 and 3 credit internships and independent studies. This fourteen-week, independent study course is designed to be a service-learning course. It is recommended if you are interested in studying issues related to women, preventing violence against women, promoting healthy relationships, and/or marketing an organization. This internship can be applied to many majors as well and is extremely convenient for UWO students as it is located right on campus!
Through the process of independent readings, participation as a volunteer in CARE activities, and peer/instructor discussions, you will learn about dynamics affecting violence against women in general and specifically on college campuses, you will learn about and participate in strategies to prevent such violence, including education of peers through a variety of peer education formats.
Students gain excellent experience in marketing an organization, developing a program and implementing it, working on a team, and learning more about social and emotional issues related to dating and sexual violence. Students working with CARE build a great resume and can receive college credit in the process.
