About

No matter whose shoes you’re wearing, sexual violence affects everyone.

Whether someone is wearing heels and a skirt or sweatpants and crocs, there’s no excuse for gendered violence. To say that “immodest attire” invites rape is not only skirting the real issue, but it’s insulting to men—as if seeing a bit of skin suddenly robs men of their better judgment. So, grab a pair of heels and come walk a mile with us to show that attire is not consent or an excuse!

From the official website:

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Events are political and performance art with public, personal and existential messages. At a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Event there is no distinction between performer and audience. Our mission is to create a unique and powerful public experience that educates individuals and communities about the causes of sexualized violence, provides them with prevention and remediation strategies and empowers them to further develop and implement these knowledges and skills interpersonally and politically. - walkamileinhershoes.org"

Men are encouraged to wear high heels for this mile-long walk. Women are encouraged to come as they are (feel free to wear heels, tennis shoes, flats, slippers, or whatever else you'd like).

The first twenty registrants will be loaned a pair of high heels for the day. There is a $5 registration fee for the event. All proceeds will be donated to Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services and Reach Counseling.

Registration is now open. Keep up to date by visiting our Facebook event page.
