Rosie the Reader

Celebrate women's history with the Women's Center's children's story hour. This is our fourth Rosie the Reader!

A Fun Excuse to Dress Up and Celebrate Women's History!

Rosie the Reader Volunteers

What: Rosie the Reader

Where: Women's Center

When: March 8th (Saturday), 10:00am-12:00pm

The Women's Center invites you to Rosie the Reader on Saturday October 26th for an empowering children's hour at 1pm in the Women's Center. Our reader will be dressed as Rosie the Riveter, and we encourage those in attendance to dress as their favorite person in women's history. We hope to see suffragists, female athletes, and ally's of women's rights!

We've been collecting books with positive female role models that we will choose from on the day. Our current selection includes:

The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch

Mommy, Mama, and Me by Lesléa Newman

Wilma Unlimited: How Wilma Rudolph Became the World's Fastest Woman by Kathleen Krull

Mama Went to Jail for the Vote by Kathleen Karr

The Princess Knight by Cornelia Funke and Kerstin Meyer

Princess Smartypants by Babette Cole

Bineshiinh dibaajmowin/Bird Talk by Lenore Keeshig-Tobias

Some reviews of the program:

"Great reading from students & staff"

"Great costumes"
