Gearing Up For Graduation

Helpful events for students who are gearing up for graduation!

Moving From Your Local Area

Co-Sponsored with Career Services

February 18th
6:00pm
Sage 1232

Panelists: Dr. Tish Crawford, Dr. M. Geneva Murray, Danielle Jones, and Dr. Sylvia Carey-Butler

This panel will discuss various issues that can cause people anxiety about moving. Including, being away from family, the myth that you can never return home again, and what it is like to be a woman of color who moves to a predominately white area. Even if you're not about to graduate, this is a great panel to attend if you're considering interning elsewhere, thinking about international travel, or if you want to be supportive of those who move to Oshkosh and may be faced with these issues.

From our director, Geneva, "Moving can be terrifying. My heart is always in Oklahoma, because that's where my family is (including my 94-year old grandmother). But I've had to move for education and work. I've lived in Texas, DC, England and the Netherlands. All of our panelists have had to move for one reason or another. This event is to discuss the fears, successes, and positive coping mechanisms that are involved with moving."
