Feminist Halloween Guide

A Feminist Guide to dressing up or down for Halloween. Anyone who has ever wandered into the Women’s Center at UW Oshkosh knows that we are a bit costume obsessed here. We love our Rosie the Reader program because it allows us to provide a program specifically tailored to those with children on campus and in the community. Not so secretly, we also love it because it means we get to dress up as suffragists and Rosie the Riveter, aka Rosie the Reader. Costumes provide us with an opportunity to play – for adults and children alike. We can imagine ourselves as strong, independent, superheroes. We can pay homage to the role models we’ve had in our life. We can dress up as our mother, our favorite actress, the first woman to go into space…. We can be anything we want to be. Well, we can be anything we want in real life too – but we can be it even quicker with a costume! This October, we are introducing our Women’s Center guide to a feminist Halloween costume. Enjoy!
