Mileage & Substitute Teacher Costs

WASAH Program policies pertaining to teacher reimbursement of mileage incurred to attend activities and school district reimbursement of substitute teacher costs.

Mileage: The TAH Grant has set aside funding to cover mileage incurred by teaching scholars for attending the Oct. 22nd fall workshop, the March 5th or 11th Spring Regional Workshop, and the six various evening/Saturday seminars offered throughout the 2008-09 school year.  Mileage will be reimbursed at the rate of 50.5 cents per hour.  The WASAH staff will try to send out reimbursement checks after the fall and spring workshops and at least once each semester to cover the 3 seminars held during the fall and winter/spring months.

Substitute Teacher Costs: Our Teaching American History grant will cover the sub costs enabling all teaching scholars to attend the Oct. 22nd fall workshop in Wausau and the March 5th and 11th spring regional workshops.   We have grant funds earmarked to cover sub costs, up to a maximum of $120 per day for each sub.

In addition, please note that the grant will cover sub costs for up to one additional day per teacher, for any teacher who wishes to take a day off to work on his/her lesson plan project (research or write up) or attend an outside workshop or training workshop that pertains to a relevant American history topic or classroom units.

Once the teachers have attended each workshop, the school system should send Mike Derr an invoice covering the sub costs and he will route through a request for CESA 6 to reimburse the school system.  If school districts are able to cover sub costs or mileage for additional outside conferences or workshops, that would enable us to stretch out the use of available WASAH funding for additional programming and activities.
