WASAH teacher lesson plans and work products relating to the formation and nature of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Amendments, American government structure, and similar themes.

File Brenna Hughes -- Creation of U.S. Constitution (Year 1)
Omro Middle School teacher Brenna Hughes created a lesson unit that has her 8th grade history students explore how the U.S. Constitution was created, the difficulties of compromise, and how the constitution can be changed. Students will read from the text, look at primary sources, read biographies of key men of the time, create posters, complete a scavenger hunt, and create a “Branches of Government” mobile.
File Sarah Spitzer -- U.S. Government (Year 1)
Pulaski School District 3rd grade teacher Sarah Spitzer created a lesson unit focusing on the U.S. Government, how it was created and how it affects our lives today. The unit also dives into what documents have provided citizens with certain rights and freedoms, as well as the United States symbols which stand for freedom.
File Michele Vinje -- Hamilton & Jefferson Shaping America (Year 1)
D.C. Everest High School history teacher Michele Vinje's lesson plans ask her students to explore how Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton helped to shape our nation through the formation of government and the U.S. Constitution. Her lesson plans employ a Socratic Circle, family feud game, and other interactive classroom activities.
File Jen Wachowski -- U.S. Constitution & Freedom (Year 1)
Sheboygan high school teacher Jen Wachowski created a series of lesson units for her 11th grade U.S. history students that helps them to explore how our constitution helps to ensure freedom enjoyed by U.S. citizens. Activities include learning about and discussing provisions of the constitution and Bill of Rights, supreme court cases, the 3 branches of government, and students completing a pamphlet project illustrating what citizenship means to them.
