The unit includes activities designed to assist students in understanding the concepts of freedom, leadership, and policy by understanding perspective, and historiography. Activities and strategies will include Socratic discussions, group discussions, reflective discussions, and critical reading.
File Patrick Steffen -- Meaning of Freedom in Past & Present (year 1)
Tomahawk High School English teacher Patrick Steffen's lesson unit will help his students explore the idea of 'freedom,' what it meant to early Americans, what it means to each of them today, and whether or not these ideas have changed, and if so, how. By exploring different examples and genres of literature, his American Literature students will apply the concept of freedom to their own daily lives. A variety of methods will be utilized; lecture, small group, debate, research, etc.
