"They told me it was impossible to do. So I told them that I was going to get it, because they said it was impossible," he explained.
In his current internship with EmbroidMe, of Oshkosh, Hockerman is excited to use his entrepreneurial side, which he developed by observing his father, a small business owner.
Hockerman will help EmbroidMe with outside sales. He also will create a marketing plan for the small business.
Before heading to UW Oshkosh, Hockerman knew he wanted to earn a degree in business, but he had trouble deciding which major to pursue. Finally, after taking Essentials of Marketing with professor John Depies, the decision was clear.
"I questioned a lot about whether marketing was the right decision for me or not until that class. That class helped solidify my decision," he said.
Immediately after graduation, Hockerman hopes to work in outside sales for an international department. After gaining some essential experience, he aspires to be a sales manager and, eventually, go back to school to get his MBA. Finally, his ultimate goal is to land an executive position at a prestigious company.
"You can never dream too big!" he said.
