Transferring to UW Oshkosh?

You might not know that nearly 40% of our students at UW Oshkosh have transferred here from other institutions, primarily from the UW Colleges (and UW-Fox Valley and UW-Fond du Lac in particular).  Rest assured that the knowledge and skills you received at your previous institution will be the foundation upon which the rest of your college experience builds.

Transfer Students and the USP

Transferring to UW Oshkosh is an easy process that starts with our Admissions Office, who will help you determine how credits from your previous institution count toward UW Oshkosh requirements.  Critical support is also provided by the Undergraduate Advising Resource Center (UARC), who will assist you in planning out the remainder of your college career at UW Oshkosh, ensuring that you're not missing any required courses for general education and/or for your major.

Students who transfer to UW Oshkosh with fewer than 15 credits will complete USP general education requirements just as our incoming freshmen do.  This means that you will enroll in Quest I, II and III as well as Connect (Advanced Composition or English 300) while completing the rest of your Explore requirements.

Students who transfer to UW Oshkosh with 15 credits or more will not take the Quest sequence or Connect (unless they need an advanced composition course, in which case they will enroll in English 312).  Students in this transfer category must complete USP 200, which is a series of two meetings held in the beginning of each semester to orient transfer students with the campus, requirements, and opportunities we offer to all students. This series of two meetings for USP 200 is a requirement for graduation, and should be completed in your first semester here.

Students Transferring Out of UW Oshkosh

If you are transferring to another institution, Quest I, II and III courses are coded with the discipline in which they are offered so that other campuses can determine how the courses transfer into their general education programs. All current and emerging UW System agreements related to inter-institutional transfer are honored by the USP.
