First-Year Students

Setting out to earn a degree and launch your career is more than a journey. It is a quest. Whether you are certain of your future direction – or still undecided – you will not waste a moment at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Academic Overview

For students starting their college journey in fall 2013, your first semester begins with your first Quest – a cluster of classes that are as new and exciting for students as they are the professors that created them.

You will start in small learning community capped at 25 students and receive guidance of a peer mentor – another student ready to answer your questions and who has "been there and done that." Later, as you Explore, an alumni mentor – a graduate of UW Oshkosh – will help you complete your community experience. In your final USP course, you will reflect and assess your Quest and Explore experiences through advanced writing that integrates all three Signature Questions.

Explore, Question and Connect

Choosing UW Oshkosh means you begin the adventure of your college education right away:

  • In a small learning community with other students.
  • Connected to a specific professor, an advisor, a peer and a graduate.
  • Asking big questions.
  • Benefitting from quality, one-on-one resources to support your academic success.
  • Investing in yourself and reinvesting in your community.
