Quest I: First-Year Experience

Quest I is your opportunity to learn about your campus and the resources that are available to you. You’ll meet new friends, learn from passionate faculty members who have designed courses especially for first-year students, and have ready access to an experienced Peer Mentor. Quest I is also the beginning of your journey through the Signature Questions and the entire University Studies Program. Quest I is the perfect start to your new life on campus!

Essential Learning Outcomes

Your Quest I course also will introduce you to UW Oshkosh’s Essential Learning Outcomes and USP while engaging your intellectual curiosity and supporting your transition to University life.

Signature Questions

Quest I courses introduce you to the USP's three Signature Questions and addresses one of those questions in greater depth. The Signature Questions are as follows:

How do people understand and engage in community life?
How do people understand and bridge cultural differences?

How do people understand and create a more sustainable world?

Where Will Your Quest I Journey Begin?

In your first semester, you'll be introduced to the USP and the Signature Questions in a small course offered by one of our many academic departments.  That course will be paired with either a Quest Writing or Quest Speaking course that will help you develop college-level writing and speaking skills.  We encourage you to browse the current selection of Quest I courses; you're sure to find something that interests you!
