UW Oshkosh Safety Bulletin - September 29, 2008
Attempted Abduction
An incident of concern to students, staff and faculty has recently occurred on or very near campus. In the interest of safety and with the belief that an informed community is a safer community, we are notifying you of the following incidents.
At approximately 12:15 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2008 a UW Oshkosh female student reported that she was the victim of an attempted abduction.
The student reported that while walking home in an area between Elmwood Avenue and Prospect Avenue to Cherry Street and Prospect Avenue a male subject between 20-30 years of age attempted to grab her and pull her into a secluded area. The female student kicked the subject and was able to get away and run to a residence hall. The information is being put out so that all people can take proper safety precautions. The incident is being looked into and if more specific information is gathered it will be made available.
Students, staff and faculty are reminded to practice good personal safety habits and to maintain situational awareness.

Strong Armed Robbery
An incident of concern to students, staff and faculty has recently occurred on or very near campus. In the interest of safety and with the belief that an informed community is a safer community, we are notifying you of the following incidents.
Between approximately 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM on Sunday, March 16th a student reported to University Police that they were the victim of a strong armed robbery.
The robbery occurred on the sidewalk along
Elmwood Avenue between John Avenue and West Lincoln Avenue in the area of Polk Library. The victim reported passing two individuals walking East on the same sidewalk. The victim continued walking West and was jumped from behind by the suspects who knocked them to the ground. The two suspects then rifled the victims person and took a wallet and fled. The suspects were last seen fleeing East on Elmwood Avenue. The suspects were believed to be wearing hoodies covering their faces. The victim was not able to provide any other descriptive information. The victim suffered a bump on the back of the head in the incident. Police were not able to locate suspects in the area. The incident was not immediately reported.

Indecent Exposure
An incident of concern to students, staff and faculty has recently occurred near campus. In the interest of safety and with the belief that an informed community is a safer community, we are notifying you of the following incident.
The Oshkosh Police Department reports that at approximately 9:09 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2008, a male on foot approached several females on the sidewalk and exposed himself. The subject then fled on foot. The incident occurred off campus in the area of the 700-900 block of Cherry Street. Oshkosh Police officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a white male, 30-40 years of age, stocky build, unshaven, with shaggy dark hair and an unkempt appearance. The suspect was last seen wearing a forest green canvas jacket (possibly Carhartt), dark colored jeans, a dark colored form fitting ribbed knit stocking hat and white stiletto high heel shoes.

Attempted Assault
An incident of concern to students, staff and faculty has recently occurred very near campus. In the interest of safety and with the belief that an informed community is a safer community, we are notifying you of the following incident.
At approximately 1:10 AM on Friday, November 16, 2007 a female student reported to University Police that they were the victim of an attempted assault. The student reported that they were walking back to campus along West Irving Avenue. Near the intersection with Wright Street, about two blocks off campus, they observed a dark colored car driving slowly down the street across from them. Suddenly, a male passenger jumped from the left rear passenger door and ran towards the student, grabbing them around the waist and shoulder. The student fought with the male suspect and fell to the ground along with the suspect. The student continued to fight free of the suspect and after kicking the suspect in the groin and striking them in the face was able to flee to safety.
There are no known suspects at this time and the vehicle has not been located. The Oshkosh Police and University Police are seeking information on this incident. The intent of the attacker is not known at this time.
The vehicle involved in this incident is described as an older, late 80's to early 90's, mid sized Buick (or other GM product) that is dark in color.
The suspect in this incident is described as a white male with dark eyebrows who is about 6' to 6'2" tall. When last seen the suspect was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and jeans.
