Create and Edit a Document
This 1½ hour class is designed for people who are new or infrequent users of Word. It is also a good review of Word basic elements.
You will learn about the Word 2003 Environment and practice getting help. The fundamentals, i.e. entering text into a document, saving a document, previewing, printing and opening new documents are also discussed. In addition to these basic features, participants will also have the chance to learn about undoing changes, find and replace, the thesaurus, spelling and grammar checks, word count and accessing readability statistics.
This 1½ hour class is designed for people who are new or infrequent users of Word or those who would like to know some of the more detailed aspects of formatting.
This class will help users learn the many ways to modify text, including font size, color, appearance, styles and effects. Participants will also learn about highlighting text and copying text formats.
This 1½ hour class is designed for people who are new or infrequent users of Word or those who would like learn more efficient ways to format paragraphs.
Participants will learn proper methods for setting Tabs, modifying paragraph alignment and indentation and adding borders and shading to paragraphs. Various ways to organize text, with bullets and numbering, in columns or with the use of text boxes is also addressed.
Controlling Page Appearance
This 1½ hour class focuses on the word Document itself. It is designed to help users adjust the way text appears on the printed page.
This class will provide the opportunity for users to modify a document in print preview, change page orientation, adjust margins and add Page borders. The benefits of using headers and footers, page and section breaks and the paragraph flow options will also be discussed and explored.
Tables and Charts
In this 1½ hour class you will learn how to effectively display data in a table or chart.
In this class, participants will create a basic table in word and will then learn how to modify the structure, enter data, position text, add borders and shading, and sort data in the table. Simple calculations and creating charts from a table are also covered.
This is a 1½ hour class is designed to give participants experience and understanding when using Word Merge.
Participants will have the opportunity to perform mail merges for letters and mailing labels using the task pane and toolbar. Common mistakes and problems encountered with Mail Merges will also be addressed and explained.
Automating Common Task
In this 1½ hour class, users will learn ways to customize word so that it can be a more useful tool.
Participants will learn how to customize menus and toolbar buttons to their liking. The Auto Text and Autocorrect features will be explored as well as the various ways these features can simplify your life. Finally, the ease and usefulness of Macros will be explained and an opportunity for creating and implementing one will be provided.
Working with Custom Styles
In this 1½ hour class, users will learn the benefits of designing and using custom styles.
This class allows learners to apply ready-made styles to documents as well as clear those styles that have already been set. Finding certain styles and replacing them with other styles will be covered as well as how to design and apply list and table styles.
