Oshkosh and Surrounding Areas DEMENTIA Summit: Providing Education, Awareness, and Resources

This summit, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11, is a special event offered at no cost to caregivers and others who are affected by or come in contact with persons living with dementia. This can include spouses, partners, children, extended family, friends and caregivers of persons living with dementia. Healthcare providers, community service employees and students are welcome. This summit will be held at the UW Oshkosh Alumni Welcome and Conference Center, 625 Pearl Avenue, Oshkosh. This dementia summit will focus on education, awareness and provide information on available resources. Keynote speakers include Martin J. Schreiber, former Governor of Wisconsin, and author of “My Two Elaines” and Diane M. Mosnik, clinical neuropsychologist. Mosnik will provide an overview on the different types of dementia and behavioral and communication strategies for the different types of dementia and will explain what a neuropsychological evaluation is and how it can help. This event is hosted by UW Oshkosh's Center for Career Development and Employability Training and sponsored by Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh. Diversity and Inclusion Film Series: Ovarian Psycos

Riding at night through streets deemed dangerous in eastside Los Angeles, the Ovarian Psycos use their bicycles to confront the violence in their lives. The film rides along with the Ovas as they explore the impact of the group’s activism on neighborhood women and communities as they confront injustice, racism and violence, and take back their streets one ride at a time. Co-sponsors: Reeve Union Diversity and Inclusion Programs, Women’s Center, Student Organization for Latinos, Student Recreation/Outdoor Adventure Center, Women’s Advocacy Council

The film is based around Xela, a single mother, poet and M.C. dedicating to recruiting an unapologetic misfit crew of color. Ride along with the Ovarian Pscyhos while exploring the impact of the group's activism.
