No institution or organization in the state of Wisconsin — public or private — boasts as many solar thermal panels as UW Oshkosh. The State Building Commission presented the 2010 Design and Construction Awards for state facilities on April 20, with the award for Excellence in Sustainable Design going to KEE Architecture, of Madison, for their Elmwood Center remodel at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.
The Princeton Review announced UW Oshkosh, for the second year in a row, earned a place in its “Guide to 311 Green Colleges,” a spotlight of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada “that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities, and career preparation.”
Nobody expected one of UW Oshkosh’s most hands-on, Earth Week student and volunteer projects would demand a warm pair of gloves.
