The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will host two painting exhibitions, a slide lecture and two artist receptions in April. The exhibitions come from mainland China and feature the work of five well-known Chinese oil painters.

The paintings will be on display at the Allen Priebe Gallery in the Arts and Communication Center, and the work of their students will be shown at the Gail Floether Steinhilber Art Gallery in Reeve Memorial Union through May 1. The Priebe Gallery hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Steinhilber Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The slide lecture and reception of Chinese art student work exhibit will take place 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Gail Floether Steinhilber Art Gallery. The visiting Chinese artists’ reception will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Priebe Gallery.

Jianzhong Jiang, a professor at Shanghai University, has won the Best of Show for Shanghai Literature and Art Creation, First Prize for Oil Painting in “The Second Shanghai Fine Arts Exhibition by Young Artists of China” and a one million RMB award for the National Historic Painting Commission by the Ministry of Culture in China. His work has been selected for many prestigious exhibitions in China and is collected by museums and private collectors in the China.

Azhong Wang, a professor at Shanghai University, has won the Excellence Prize in the Eighth National Art Exhibition and the Second National Watercolor and Color Gouache Exhibition. His work has been selected for many prestigious exhibitions in China, Japan and Korea and has been collected by museums and private collectors internationally.

Xiangming Wang, a professor at Shanghai Teacher University, has won several top awards including the Golden Award in “The Second China Art Exhibition of Young Artists” and second place in “The Seventh Chinese Artist Exhibition.” His work has been exhibited in many prestigious exhibitions in China, Canada and the U.S. and has been collected by museums and private collectors. His recent work was sold for more than two million RMB at art auctions in Hong Kong.

Xiaofu Yu holds several positions, including vice president of Shanghai Artist Association; vice president of Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute; and dean and professor at College of Arts and Design, Shanghai Institute of Technology. He has won many top awards, including the Golden Award at the National Fine Arts Exhibition at the China Art Museum and a one-million RMB award for the National Historic Painting Commission by the Ministry of Culture in China. His work has been selected for many prestigious exhibitions and collected by museums and private collectors internationally. He also is included in the book of “Ten Great Masters of Oil Painter in China.”

Zhiguang Zhu is a professor at Jiangnan University in Wuxi, vice president of Gu Kaizi Research Institute, and executive president of Wuxi Oil Painting and Sculpture Institute. His work has been selected for many prestigious exhibitions in China and is collected by museums and private collectors.
