Why did you volunteer to serve on the Alumni Board?

I have always been a fan of UW Oshkosh and it was my first choice school when it came time to go to college, but working in the Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) department to define and promote a strong brand identity for UWO gave me a whole new sense of Oshkosh pride.

Since I started working with IMC two years ago, I’ve become a real champion of UWO. I am constantly looking for ways to stay involved and communicate how awesome a university UW Oshkosh is, and the Alumni Board seems like a great way to do that.

What are you most looking forward to in this role?

I’m really looking forward to being back on campus and working to create connections with other alumni and community members. UWO is on the edge of something, moving forward with branding, student recruitment and community partnerships, and I’m excited to be a part of it.

How did UW Oshkosh help you get where you are today?

Wow, so many ways… Everyone at UWO is so supportive and personable (students, professors, staff). Those people and that atmosphere opened up so many opportunities for me. Going to school and working at UWO taught me a lot about teamwork and the value of collaboration. I have made a lot of great connections at UWO who have backed me up and helped me out to get me where I am today and who continue to offer support and advice to get me where I still want to go.

Please share a brief description of what you do in your job.

I work at the Oshkosh Public Museum as the marketing and membership coordinator. Being the sole marketing employee on staff, I do a little bit of everything: market research, advertising, public relations, brand management, special events. I also am starting to ease into managing the museum membership and volunteer programs. It’s great. I love it.

How did your UW Oshkosh education prepare you for your current position?

The business program at UW Oshkosh is great; I was exposed to all aspects of business and management and had the opportunity to take classes in a variety of marketing focuses, all of which are coming together now in my current job. Glad I kept some of those old notes…

Did any of your family members also attend UW Oshkosh?

My uncle and brother both attended UW Oshkosh.
