Nicole Zedler, University services associate, has been named the recipient of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh STAR Award for March 2011. Rebecca Spurlock, assistant director in the Admissions Office, nominated her. Portions of the nomination letter follow:

“Nicole Zedler provides leadership and brings a level of professionalism that greatly enhances how the Admissions Office meets prospective students and their families. Nicole’s outstanding work as a mentor to the many student ambassadors who work with the Admissions Office, including the Titan Gold Corps, VOSA-Voices of Oshkosh Student Ambassadors and the Summer Student Ambassadors is exemplary. She models inclusive excellence across a diverse, multi-generational work team and is well on her way to a rewarding career in higher education.

“In the fast-paced Admissions Office, where meeting and serving the public is central to our mission, Nicole demonstrates the principles of servant leadership and consistently seeks opportunities for continued professional development and growth. She is active in the Student Affairs Quality Circle, has been selected for participation this year’s revitalized Classified Staff Leadership Series and, this fall, she begins graduate school as a Master’s degree student in Educational Leadership. Admissions is very fortunate to have such a talented young professional on staff.

“Over the course of this summer, Nicole has managed the campus visit program for just under one thousand prospective students and their families. Her welcoming presence and her consistent professionalism have been and continue to be a priceless asset to the Admissions Office.”

Winners of the STAR Award receive a framed certificate, a reserved parking space for one month and a gift from University Books & More. The award for exceptional performance is presented each month to a member of the classified staff who has worked at least six months at UW Oshkosh.

The CSAC Awards & Recognition Committee submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
