The Career Fair on the Fox, a bi-annual job fair at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, is bringing together employers, current students and alumni March 2 to provide numerous career and educational opportunities.

The one-day event is a collaborative effort by UW Oshkosh Career Services and Fox Valley Technical College to assist students and alumni in finding internships, full- and part-time positions and volunteer opportunities. The Career Fair will be held at Kolf Sports Center between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Jaime Page-Stadler, director of Career Services at UW Oshkosh, said that students and alumni who attend the Career Fair can connect with employers and distribute resumes and business cards. They may even have an opportunity to interview for a position.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity to network with professionals and build relationships with those professionals,” said Jaime Page-Stadler, director of Career Services at UW Oshkosh. “It’s not so much who you know but who knows you.”

In addition to networking opportunities, attendees can have a professional portrait taken at the Career Fair’s new photography booth. The booth, which will be located within Kolf Sports Center, is free for students and alumni wanting to have a photo taken for their online social networks, such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

“We thought this feature would be very beneficial to our students,” Page-Stadler said. “With the increasing number of users on LinkedIn and increasing number of professional networking online, we thought both students and alumni would really enjoy having a professional photo to include with their online profiles.”

Students and alumni planning to attend the event do not need to pre-register, but they do need to bring plenty of resumes as copy service is not available. Professional dress is preferred while appropriate dress required by UW Oshkosh Career Services and Fox Valley Technical College.
