More than $3,700 was raised during the 11th Annual University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business dinner recognizing outstanding alumni and faculty on Feb. 19, which also honored a  Fortune 100 CEO, a community leader and a dedicated management professor.

The dinner was hosted at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton.

College of Business Dean Bill Tallon presented the Outstanding Alumni awards to Diane Roundy (MBA ‘92), director of business development at Schenck SC, and Russ Weyers (BBA ’81), CEO of Johnson Financial.

Roundy, a recognized community leader, lauded the curriculum and instructors of the MBA program at UW Oshkosh. Specifically, she reflected on the impact the program’s Personal Strategy course has had in helping her set yearly goals. She completed the MBA program with her husband and considered their evening classes as an opportunity to grow in their careers and their marriage.

Russ Weyers, CEO of Johnson Financial, said when his college career began in 1978, he could have never predicted what he was in for. After three and a half years, he was forever changed as a person and is indebted to the finance professors who forced him to work hard at mastering business concepts, including how to led a team and develop strong interpersonal skills. Weyers also reflected on meeting his wife of 29 years, Debbie, at UW Oshkosh. His mother, who still volunteers at 92 years old, came to the event to recognize her son’s achievements.

The event also recognized the 13th Outstanding Faculty member, Dr. Linda Hartenian. She was recognized for the 19 years of serve as a professor of management. Hartenian, a longtime volunteer for the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, stressed the importance of giving back. She reflected on the impact her upbringing had on her life, specifically in work ethic and approaching life with humor.

The dinner generated $3,735 in the silent auction, which was virtual for the third year in a row. Chris Lipke, technology intern and Peggy Karls, technology specialist for the College, led the efforts to create a paperless auction environment. Attendees cast their bids using software customized by Lipke and could their Smart phones or the computer terminals at the auction to place bids.
