A crowd of several hundred University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students, faculty, staff and community members gathered at Polk Library Mall on campus Thursday for a rally in opposition to Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill.

The rally, organized independently, was one of several held over the noon hour on Feb. 17 by groups on UW System campuses throughout the state.

The Governor’s budget repair bill is moving through state legislative committees and houses this week. The current proposal aims to close a more-than $130 million deficit in the current fiscal year and also address a larger budget deficit expected in the next biennium.
