’Tis the season for tasty treats, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Honors Student Association hopes to make some of that nibbling help a noble cause.

A bake sale and silent auction will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the entrance to Polk Library, with all proceeds to benefit honors students’ work around the world, including the construction of a children’s school near Johannesburg, South Africa, and a scholarship for a South African student to attend chef school.

“Spend any amount of time here on the UW Oshkosh campus, and you are bound to run into the type of people who you just know are going to do great things in the world,” said Honors Student Association adviser Adam Bellcorelli of students in the program.

“You can help the honors students make a great impact around the world and kick off the holiday giving season with a wonderful treat for yourself,” Bellcorelli said.

But before the indulgence can begin, donations of cakes, cookies, muffins, pies, strudels — in short, any baked good that would satisfy a sweet tooth — are needed. Bakers, which can be businesses or individuals, are encouraged to decorate their wares with a logo or sponsor name or any other means of promotion.

Bake sale attendees will have the chance to bid on bigger items, or they can buy it immediately for a predetermined price. Smaller items, such as cookies, will be sold individually.

For more information about the event, contact Bellcorelli at (920) 424-1362 or bellcora@uwosh.edu or Shane Dvorjac at dvorjs83@uwosh.edu.
