The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’70 Hans-Peter Kohlhoff
(EHS) received an award in Boston for his service on the National Executive Committee of the American Association of Teachers of German. He was elected to represent the Southwest region for the organization in 2007.

’70 Douglas Manlick (EHS) is an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, undergoing specialized training to take part in a secret mission. He lives in Manitowoc and is a member of the Appleton American Legion.

’76 Cynthia “Cid” (Kizewski) Hill
(LS) visited Wisconsin in spring for her twin sons’ college graduation. She has been living in Arkansas for more than 30 years and works at the Central Arkansas Veterans’ Healthcare Service as an audiologist. She enjoyed visiting the UWO campus and reliving the memories of her college experience.

’77 Suzanne “Sanny” Oberhauser (MSE) and her husband Pete, long-time residents of Clintonville, were recognized by the Clintonville Lions Club for their distinguished, varied and dedicated volunteer service to the community.

’79 Gary Kilgas (B) is a Technical and Industrial Division associate dean for the Mid-State Technical College, one of the Wisconsin Technical College System’s 16 colleges. He lives in Neenah with his wife, Kathryn.

’83 Michael Hert (EHS) and ’85 (MSE), lieutenant and officer of the 308th Civil Affairs Brigade, conducted a ceremony for his son, Christian Hert, to be sworn in as an officer candidate of the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC). ’84 Kevin Casper
(EHS), wrestling coach for Coleman High School, was inducted into the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame. Since he was hired as the head coach in 1989, the Cougar’s have won two team state championships (2000 and 2010).

’84 Mary Edwards
(MSE) is the author and illustrator of “The Deer and the Naturalist: Dreamwork and the Spiritual Journey.” She worked many years as a cardiac nurse and a mental health counselor, and has since retired to Lake Mills with her husband, Bill.

’86 Lynn (Zickuhr) Kleman
(LS) is the executive director of the Community Health Network (CHN) Foundation in Berlin. She lives in Oshkosh with her husband, Rob, and two children, Robbie and Katie.

’90 Lyn (Moede) Rogers (LS), major U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) and Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) graduate, returned home to Wisconsin after a one-year Iraq deployment as a budget officer. Photo in army gear

’92 Bruce Dethlefsen (MS) was appointed as Wisconsin’s Poet Laureate by Gov. Jim Doyle. He will lead one large-scale project to contribute to the growth of Wisconsin poetry.

’92 Linda Schmidt Goss (LS), ’98 (MSE) and ’02 (EHS) is a licensed professional counselor at the Waupaca Wellness Center. She lives in Winneconne with their husband, Tom, and her two children, Katana and Cooper.

’94 Andrew “Andy” Hengst (B) is a client service administrator in Oshkosh for Clifton Gunderson LLP, a nationwide firm for certified public accounting and consulting.

’95 Catherine “Cathy” Williams
(LS) is the assistant librarian at the Necedah Community Siegler Memorial Library.

’97 Lisa Weiss (EHS) and ’04 (MSE), a literacy coach at Oshkosh North High School, achieved National Board Certification in 2010 from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), after successfully demonstrating advanced teaching knowledge, skills and practices through a performance-based assessment.

’99 Julie (Defosse) Ennis
(EHS) teaches seventh grade and works in the middle school office in the Adams-Friendship School District.

’00 Ryan Steel (EHS) is a personal lines producer at TRICOR Insurance in Stoughton. He lives in Oregon with his wife, Stephanie, and their two daughters.

’02 Nicole Overbeck
(LS) is director of the Wautoma Public Library.

’02 Nathan Russell
(LS) teaches music lessons at Portage Soundworks, a business he started after remodeling a 100-year-old building into Portage’s first professional recording studio.

’04 Ross McDowell (B) is the owner of Run Away Shoes, a running-shoe and apparel company with locations in Appleton, Green Bay and Oshkosh.

’05 Robert Graf (EHS) is the head coach for the varsity boys basketball team in Algoma.

’05 Nathan Miller (EHS), former Titan basketball player, is head varsity basketball coach at Omro.

’05 Tina (Hegemann) Moritz (EHS), a substitute teacher in the Reedsburg Area School District,  is traveling to India on a vocational exchange through Rotary International, a worldwide organization with members who provide humanitarian service to the community and help build goodwill throughout the world. She is looking forward to immersing herself in the culture and educational system.

’06 Thomas Berenz (LS) is an art teacher at Ripon College and UW Oshkosh, and has been exhibiting his art work around the state as well as in Georgia, Illinois, Iowa and Ohio.

’06 Tyler Christensen (LS) wrote the script and produced and directed a new movie, “The House of Purgatory,” which completed filming in Green Bay in November.

’06 Erik Cieslewicz (LS) is the director of “Hard to be Me,” a show that was named “Best TV Pilot” at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Currently living in Washington, D.C., Cieslewicz is a freelance documentarian and videographer who hopes to continue his filmmaking career by filming a movie in Wausau next summer.

’06 Daniel Schmeeckle (LS) is an associate attorney, specializing in personal injury and business litigation for Anderson, O’Brien, Bertz, Skrenes & Golla in Stevens Point. He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association and the Portage County Bar Association.

’07 Bobbie (Mahn) Henschel
(EHS) was named the 2010 Early Childhood Special Education Teacher of the Year by the Wisconsin Division for Early Childhood and the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association. She works at H.B. Patch Elementary School in Omro and lives in Oshkosh with her husband, Gary.

’07 Kathryn Schwandt
(MBA), vice president of M&I Bank in Ripon, celebrated her 30-year anniversary with the company in November. She is president of Ripon Rotary, president of the board of directors for the Little White Schoolhouse, treasurer of the board of directors for the Ripon Medical Center, the benevolence treasurer for the Zion Lutheran Church of Fairwater, and serves on the board of directors for the Foundation for Ripon Medical Center.

’09 Jonathan Calder (B) is a staff accountant with Roberts, Ritschke & Tyczkowski Ltd. in Neenah.

’10 Erin Brunker (EHS) is an English as a second language teacher at the elementary and middle school levels for the Dodgeville School District. She lives in Ridgeway and is engaged to Keith Hasburgh.
