University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s Jeremy Rubens, sophomore, who painted a masterpiece of relief pitching in games held April 14-20, has earned NCAA Division III Pitcher of the Week honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

The right-handed Rubens appeared in five contests in relief and pitched a total of 15 innings, posting a 3-0 record with two saves as UW Oshkosh extended its winning streak to 12 games. He allowed nine hits and only two unearned runs while striking out six batters and walking two.

Rubens picked up a pair of wins in UW Oshkosh victories of 7-6 (11 innings) and 7-5 (11 innings) over UW-La Crosse on April 14. He pitched a total of 9.1 innings against the Eagles, allowing just six hits and two unearned runs.

In UW-Oshkosh’s 3-2 win over 22nd-ranked UW-Stevens Point, Rubens pitched the final 1.1 innings to earn the save. He retired all four batters in faced, including one by a strikeout.

After earning a save in UW Oshkosh’s 8-7 win over UW-Stout on April 19, Rubens recorded the victory in the Titans’ 9-5 win over UW-Stout on April 20. His triumph came after he allowed just two hits in four scoreless innings.

This season, Rubens owns a 7-1 record with five saves and a 2.25 earned run average in 48 innings pitched. His 14 appearances also includes 19 strikeouts.

Last year, Rubens compiled a 4-1 record and a 3.14 earned run average in 51.2 innings pitched.
