The UW Oshkosh College of Business (COB) recently recognized five graduating students for their service representing the College as ambassadors. They represented the College at events, helped with projects and served as members of the Dean’s Council. The students include Kelly Besasie, accounting and finance; Jill Hinson, accounting and Spanish; Brianna Rapp, finance and global business; Ashley Romenesko, human resource management and marketing; and Justin Rose, economics and finance.

Sharon Chappy, nursing, will be attending a pre-conference workshop at the American Nurses Association Conference in Miami Jan. 26. Chappy received funding through the Faculty Development Program Off-Campus Component.

UW Oshkosh received funds from the UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity for three separate campus reading seminars, totaling $1,067. Liz Cannon, director of the LGBTQ Resource Center, Jean Kwaterski, student affairs, and Michael Skivington, COEHS, are the seminar project directors.

“My Soldiers” has been chosen to participate in the Regional American College Theatre in January 2011. The play, written by Richard Kalinoski, is the first UW Oshkosh production to be invited to perform at the festival, which is sponsored by The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and being held at Michigan State University.

The UW Oshkosh men’s soccer team received National Soccer Coaches Association of America awards. The award recipients include students Jack Borski, third-team All-American and first-team All North Region; Will Chaney, first-team All-North Region; Tim Stadler, first-team All-North Region; James Pike, second-team All-North Region; Tony Starnes, second-team All-North Region; and Devon Prideaux, third-team All-North Region. Wytse Molenaar also received North Region Coach of the Year.

Karen King, public affairs, will serve as the University leadership fellow, Office of Equity and Affirmative Action, for the 2011 academic year. As the University leadership fellow, King will provide leadership and support on projects including workplace training and professional development, Civility in Everyday Life initiative, Social Justice Week programming and review of administrative and governance policies.

B.S. Sridhar, business, was a panelist in an open forum on state interest on world issues. The forum, “Role of States in Citizen Diplomacy,” revealed a network system to track states interaction with international opportunities.

UW Oshkosh students Amy Will and Jenna Noffke received $500 scholarships from Altrusa International of Oshkosh. Will, who has experience working with students who have learning and emotional behavioral disabilities, received the Special Education Scholarship. Noffke has plans to become an interior designer and received her scholarship from the Art in the Garden fund. Altrusa International of Oshkosh works to develop leadership, enhance community service, and foster appreciation for each other’s personal qualities.

The 2010 Service Recognition Award was presented to UW Oshkosh Testing Services Director Duane Groupell from the National College Testing Association. Last year, Groupell was honored by the NCTA with the President’s Award. The award is presented to individuals who have made large contributions and services to NCTA.

Michelle Boeder, senior basketball player at UW Oshkosh, was honored for her achievements on the court last week by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Christy Cazzola, a sophomore from Kaukauna, has been named the 2010 WIAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Cazzola recorded a top-four finish in every race she competed in during the 2010 season.
