Northwestern Mutual Financial Network — The Holter Financial Group has made a $100,000 donation to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Business (COB). The significant gift is earmarked for student professional development programs during the next five years.

The newly named The Holter Financial Group Internship Office, which already provides internship opportunities for COB students, will be part of the new Professional Development Center that is currently working on several new initiatives to offer increased professional development opportunities for students.

“We are grateful for The Holter Financial Group’s support of and partnership with the college and University,” said Jessie Pondell, director of professional development for COB. “This kind of support gives us the opportunity to continue to provide our students with extra-curricular development opportunities. In addition, we will now be able to implement new opportunities, such as an Emerging Leaders in Business mentor program.”

The Northwestern Mutual Financial Network internship program is ranked as one of the top 10 internships in America for the 14th consecutive year by the 2010 Vault Guide to Internships. The Holter Financial Group is committed to the development and growth of its college financial representatives.

“We’re proud to support the College of Business and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh,” said Steve Holter, managing partner for The Holter Financial Group in Milwaukee. “The Holter Financial Group believes in supporting higher education and the UW Oshkosh College of Business.”

COB Dean Bill Tallon said the partnership is great for the college.

“Professional business relationships like this are what allow us to provide the opportunities to our students that help give them a competitive edge in the marketplace,” Tallon said. “With the new academic building set to open for the fall 2011 term, we will have the advanced facilities to offer up leading-edge professional development experiences.”

The College of Business is recognized for delivering excellence in business education, serving more than 1,850 undergraduate students and more than 400 graduate students. COB is accredited by AACSB International, the “gold standard” for accreditation.
