Gregory Allen Olson, communication, has written a new book called “Landmark Speeches of the Vietnam War.” The book explores 14 speeches from 1945 to 1971 and the rhetoric that influenced decisions and the course of history.

UW Oshkosh senior football players seated guests and cleaned tables at Buffalo Wild Wings in Oshkosh as part of a Titan Tuesdays. Buffalo Wild Wings donated 10 percent of proceeds from the night to the Arc-Winnebago County Disability Association.

Eduardo Zarate, CCDET, will attend the Adobe MAX 2010 Conference in Los Angeles, Calif., Oct. 23 to 27. He received support through the academic staff component of the Faculty Development Program.

Marguerite Parks, associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services, is a founding editor of The Journal for Understanding and Dismantling Privilege. The online journal is a project for the annual White Privilege Conference and the Matrix Center. The journal provides a venue for those working in social justice to share their work with a wide audience.

Mary Seaman, biology and microbiology, is the project director of McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement, which received $220,000 from the U.S. Department of Education. The project helps UW Oshkosh undergraduates prepare for doctoral study and is in its fourth year.

Stephan Richards, criminal justice, will discuss his book, “Beyond Bars: Rejoining Society After Prison,” which focuses on building a community of formerly incarcerated men and women to challenge the intellectual and government support of the prison state, Oct. 6-8 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, the University of Indianapolis and a community forum.

Pat Nichols, CCDET, project director of “Targeted Topic Safety and Health Training,” received $200,785 from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The grant will fund the training throughout the state of Wisconsin and will focus on topics such as green manufacturing and general business.

Tim Danielson, Human Resources, is a member of the 2011 class of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Oshkosh, which familiarizes “students” with Oshkosh and its issues.

Catherine Arentsen, Head Start, is project director of “Head Start ARRA Expansion,” which recently received $195,997 from the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.
