The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will host the UW System Board of Regents for their monthly meeting Oct. 7-8, 2010. The 18-member board serves as the governing body for the UW System; their meetings are typically held in Madison, but several times a year they visit one of the UW System campuses.

The meeting will kick off at 10 a.m. Oct. 7 with a presentation from Chancellor Wells entitled “UW Oshkosh’s ‘Principles for Progress and Prosperity’: A Compact to Better Educate More People.”

A panel discussion featuring faculty/student collaboration will highlight the presentation. During the Education Committee meeting at 1 p.m. Oct. 7, Provost Lane Earns and colleagues will share the University’s academic program plan and the new mission statement. Meanwhile, at 1 p.m., Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Tom Sonnleitner and colleagues will overview the updated campus master plan and examples of the University’s innovative strategic financial initiatives.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to be featured at the October Board of Regents meeting,” said UW Oshkosh Chancellor Richard H. Wells. “People from across the state will learn more about the exceptional work of our students, faculty and staff. I encourage the campus community to participate in these activities as they are interested and able.”

Members of the campus community are invited to attend a variety of events held during the Regents’ visit.
