On September 11, Bob O’Donnell, director of the Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Business, was awarded the Association for Great Lakes Maritime History’s first-ever President’s Award for his many years of service to the Association.

The Association for Great Lakes Maritime History is an international organization of almost 300 institutions and individuals dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich maritime history of the Great Lakes region. O’Donnell has been editor of non-profit group’s bi-monthly journal for the past sixteen years, and created its annual awards program that honors individuals for their efforts in the fields of historic preservation and interpretation, and original research in maritime history.

The President’s Award was presented to O’Donnell at the Association 2010 Conference which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin Superior’s Jim Dan Hill Library. During the conference, O’Donnell also made a presentation entitled “The Corn Belt Navy: The Great Lakes Naval Militias, 1889-1955.”
