With the help of 117 students enrolled into the College of Business and the Department of Journalism, Pursuit magazine will be distributed to the College of Business students during the week of September 20, 2010.

The second edition contains topics that were chosen by students for students. Content focuses on useful tips and tools, the job market in the current state of the economy and how students can make the most of their experience on the UW Oshkosh campus and in the College of Business.

The Pursuit editorial staff comprised of journalism students enrolled in Dana Baumgart’s Magazine Editing and Production course in the spring 2010 semester researched different tools to help students pick a major, improve the chances of earning a scholarship and the different ways to obtain internships. They’ve laid out resources for nontraditional students, ways to use social media to the student’s advantage, how to pick the best study abroad program and how to set themselves apart from your future competition.

Students who enrolled in the fall and spring semesters of Dennis Wepfner’s Sales and Selling Management course in the College of Business’ marketing department were responsible for selling ad space to support the financial arm of the publication.

Pre-business students will receive their free copy of the publication during their advising sessions at the UARC. College of Business student ambassadors will distribute the publication in classes to admitted business students during the week of September 20th. Copies will also be available at the College of Business annual Networking Night event and outside of the College of Business undergraduate office in the Clow academic building.

An electronic version of the publication using page-turning software is available at www.uwosh.edu/cob/publications.

For more information about the project or for access to students involved, please contact Dana Baumgart, project adviser, at (920) 450-9350 or baumgard@uwosh.edu.

Patti Werner, College of Business, submitted this announcement. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
