Nancy Harrison, director of Student Support Services, has received $397,972 from the U.S. Department of Education for year one of a five-year project titled “Student Support Services.”

Miles Maguire, an associate professor of journalism at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, attended a conference on literary journalism at Roehampton University in May, where he presented a study that compared a memoire written by a war reporter with the same reporter’s original news reports. Michelina Manzi, a reading education professor, recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of the “Breaking Barriers with Books” program, which uses children’s literature as a catalyst to enhance relationships between incarcerated fathers and their children. Under Manzi’s direction, the program has reached thousands of children and has been emulated by correctional facilities across the country. Read more at Fox 21 News.

UW Oshkosh, in partnership with UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-Stout and UW-River Falls, has received $41,700 for “OrgSync Co-Curricular Portfolio Development and Pilot Program.” Carleen Vandezande (Provost’s Office) and Rhiannon Bruins (Student Leadership) are the project directors.
