Seen on campus: assisting World War II veterans
University of Wisconsin Oshkosh football coaching staff and players assist World War II veterans as they prepare for the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., from EAA AirVenture 2010 on July 29. Approximately 80 veterans from the region took a day-long tour of the D.C. memorials before returning to Oshkosh, where they once again were assisted by the UW Oshkosh volunteers. Wow! What a great thing for our football players to do for people who served our country so valiantly! I am truly proud to be associated with the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh knowing that our students are helping their communities in this way!
What a great article! My dad was a WWII veteran, and I know he would have been honored to participate in the Old Glory Honor Flight. The football team helped these men & women feel special and assisted them in participating in the event. Kudos to EAA and UW Oshkosh for organizing this program!
