starRebecca Carli, who works in the Department of Residence Life at Gruenhagen Conference Center, as conference preparations and maintenance supervisor, has been named the recipient of the April 2017 STAR Award.

She was nominated by her supervisor Marc Nylen, director of Gruenhagen Conference Center.

Carli’s nomination follows:

“Rebecca Carli is an outstanding staff member within Gruenhagen Conference Center and the Department of Residence Life. Becca excelled as a student staff member up until her graduation in December of 2015, at which time she immediately transitioned into her current position in Gruenhagen Conference Center.

“She possesses the best work ethic I have ever witnessed in a staff member in my 27 years serving as a staff member on the UW Oshkosh campus. Her attention to detail; incredible interpersonal skills; and rapport building with our conference center guests has made her a household name within the groups we serve. We host a 900-person convention, the WPA Home Education Conference. This event, hosted the first weekend in May, brought guests to our campus from all 72 counties in Wisconsin. At the conclusion of the conference, the convention manager wrote an e-mail to me praising the contributions and efforts of Becca Carli, and informing me of the impact she had on all attendees. This feedback is reflective of the exceptional work that Becca does as our conference preparations and maintenance supervisor.

“She is very skilled with setting up meeting room accommodations as well as overseeing AV needs for groups. The combination of her savvy in these areas along with her dedication and commitment to serving the needs of guests make her a powerhouse employee. It has truly been an honor to supervise Becca, and I believe she is very deserving of this prestigious campus award. Her humility would preclude her from ever seeking praise, honor and glory for the great work she does. However, we here in GCC see her as so deserving of this award.”

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
