The Dr. Julie Henderson Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter at the University Wisconsin Oshkosh earned the Pacesetter award for the month of February from PRSSA National.

The Pacesetter goes to a chapter that completed a public relations high school outreach project, had professional developmental activities and greatly increased membership.

President Katie Biersach said she thinks the chapter’s 74-percent increase in membership was a result of great programming during the fall semester.

“We had more industry speakers, more activities, like volunteering with Red Shoes PR in Appleton, and went on a local agency tour,” Biersach said.

The chapter is now focusing its efforts on a national campaign competition about organ donor awareness.

“This is a campaign competition across all PRSSA chapters that chose to participate,” she said. “We have a great week planned to increase awareness of organ donation on our campus and in our community.”
