Munin_ArtDr. Art Munin has been selected as the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Development/Dean of Students.

Munin assumed the role Oct. 24. Munin comes to UW Oshkosh from Illinois State University, where he most recently served as the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students.

“Dr. Munin brings a tremendous breadth of experience as a higher education practitioner and scholar to the Division of Student Affairs at UW Oshkosh. Art is highly student-centered and an ideal match for the needs of our students and community,” said Brandon Miller, interim vice chancellor for student affairs.

Prior to his time at Illinois State, Munin served as the Dean of Students at DePaul University and held roles at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and at Loyola University Chicago.

Munin has a Ph.D. in higher education and a M.Ed. in community counseling from Loyola University Chicago, a master’s degree in multicultural communication from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Illinois University.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Development will report to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

In the role, Munin will work closely with the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs to provide leadership, vision and strategic direction for the Division of Student Affairs. Munin will also directly supervise the Dean of Students office, which includes the oversite of advocacy, judicial affairs and disability services at UW Oshkosh. Additionally, Munin will serve as co-adviser for the Oshkosh Student Association, and supervise the directors of the Counseling Center, Student Health Center and Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

Munin replaces former Dean of Students Sharon Kipetz who retired earlier this year.
