During his time at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, James Flood held the role as professor, head coach, director of men’s athletics and assistant chancellor.

Flood’s association with UW Oshkosh began in 1965 as a professor of health and physical education. That same year he assumed the responsibilities as head coach of both the men’s cross country and track and field teams. In 1974, Flood became the director of men’s athletics. Eventually, Flood accepted a new challenge in 1987 when he became UW Oshkosh’s assistant chancellor of university relations. For eight years Flood had administrative responsibility for the alumni affairs, university publications, news bureau, electronic media relations and government relations. Flood retired from UW Oshkosh in 1995. He was elected into the UW Oshkosh Hall of Fame in 1998.

A memorial service to celebrate Flood’s life will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 605 Merritt Avenue in Oshkosh on Thursday May 26 at 111 a.m. Family and friends may attend the visitation at St. Mary’s preceding the service between 9:30 and 11 a.m.
