The Creating a Stronger Community Contest  is now accepting proposals for the 2016 contest.

The Creating a Stronger Community Contest was developed in 2011 as a way to generate excitement and action around community-building projects in Oshkosh via a contest through which the person or group responsible for the idea is awarded a cash grant and momentum to implement the idea.

In 2015, the contest attracted nearly 100 people to the finals event to hear pitches from several finalists, and Cycling Without Age was awarded more than $1,500 in seed money. Past winners include the Oshkosh Food Co-op, Growing Oshkosh and H.O.M.E.

The contest is open to anyone in the Oshkosh area with an idea about how to improve local quality of life and build community. Proposals are due on April 17 and finalists will be announced at the Earth Week keynote event on April 18, with the finals event held at Becket’s on April 21.
