The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Information Technology One Button Studio project is one of 15 projects funded by the 2015 UW System Innovation Program.

The UW System Innovation Program funds proposals that focus on emerging teaching and learning technology, support online learning technology initiatives, enable faculty and staff development and promote robust and centrally managed data services.

The program also funds proposals that explore solutions through prototyping and pilot phase to assist in selecting the best solutions for aspects of administration, such as continuity of operations, consolidated cloud services, mobility strategies and other innovations which improve employee productivity while reducing cost.

The One Button Studio at UW Oshkosh is a self-service video recording room in Polk 8. The studio can be used for rehearsing a class presentation, practicing public speaking skills, creating videos for online instruction, recording a podcast, creating an informational video, recording testimonials and more.

To use the One Button Studio, faculty, staff and students can reserve the studio online through their TitanApps (Gmail) calendar, and bring their UW Oshkosh ID and a flash drive to the studio in Polk 8. To record a video, users place their flash drive in the dock and then push the recording button. When finished recording, users will see a prompt on screen to remove their flash drive.

“Students are challenged with a high demand for public speaking and presentation skills. In the 2014–2015 academic year alone Quest I students recorded more than 3,000 videos,” Knaapen said. “This self-service video recording studio will engage students in creative video presentations as well as give them much needed practice for public speaking assignments.”
