It’s no secret that Chancellor Andrew Leavitt and his wife Karen Leavitt are passionate about the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

With their dedication to the institution front and center, the Leavitts recently committed $30,000 to the UW Oshkosh Foundation to support scholarships and programs within the arts, nursing, athletics and research initiatives through various specific Foundation funds. The donation will be paid to the Foundation over a five year time period.

Gifts to the UW Oshkosh Foundation have an immediate impact to the students at UW Oshkosh, Leavitt said, which is why the Leavitts feel so passionately about giving back to the institution.

“There is a great feeling of joy that comes from giving and volunteering, and I can’t think of a better way to support students and this place we all care about than by giving to our own UW Oshkosh,” Leavitt said.

In a recent campus communication, the Leavitts encouraged members of the campus community to join them in making a gift to the UW Oshkosh Fund, which is the University’s annual giving program.

“Your support is invaluable as we continue to develop dynamic activities and build on the outstanding accomplishments of this institution,” the campus-wide communication stated.

“While Karen and I are in a position to give at this level, campus community members should participate at a level they feel comfortable,” Leavitt said.

UW Oshkosh Foundation President Arthur Rathjen is appreciative for the public support of the Leavitts and is hopeful it sets a good example for other UW Oshkosh employees as they are making their giving decisions, he said.

“Our chancellor is setting a fine example as UW Oshkosh’s leader—and we’re thankful for his support of UW Oshkosh student scholarships and programs,” Rathjen said.
