Mary Bartelt, who works in Educational Leadership and Policy department at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), has been named the recipient of the December STAR Award.

She was nominated by Marguerite Penicks-Parks, who is the chair of Educational Leadership and Policy department at UW Oshkosh.

Portions of Mary’s nomination follows:

“Mary exemplifies going above and beyond. Everything she has done since joining the department has been first rate. What makes her a true STAR however is with how she is always willing to help everyone with a smile. She always makes time to help anyone from any department, any college or simply on the street.

“She is a go-to person in the college because everyone knows her work will be perfect and she will go out of her way to help you find answers. The department currently hosts cohorts of South Korean teachers every year and their favorite person in the department is Mary because they know she will do anything she can to help them. She chairs a committee for Classified Staff–she keeps all of us in line and meeting our deadlines. When the department was pulling together the paperwork for the EdD, she worked nonstop to help. She knows all the students by name and faculty are always in her office talking to her. The visiting Fulbright scholar for journalism quickly realized Mary was his go-to person and they quickly became friends because that is what Mary does. She makes everyone feel welcome, you never feel like you are in her way and while making the workplace a little brighter she maintains a quality work that is superior! She is the shining STAR of COEHS with her shining, friendly go-to personality.”

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute calendar items, campus announcements and other good news to UW Oshkosh Today.
