Nearly 1,400 undergraduate, more than 180 master’s degree and nine Doctor of Nursing Practice candidates will become graduates of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Saturday, May 16.

The 141st spring commencement ceremonies will be held at Kolf Sports Center, 785 High Ave. Two ceremonies will be held—the 9 a.m. ceremony will include the College of Letters and Science and the Division of Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement; the 2 p.m. ceremony will include the College of Business, College of Education and Human Services and the College of Nursing.

Each commencement ceremony will last about two hours, tickets are not needed. A reception for faculty, new alumni and their parents and guests will be held following each ceremony in Kolf’s lower level.

State Rep. Gordon Hintz and Tim Higgins of the UW System Board of Regents will participate in the morning ceremony; Regent Gerald Whitburn will participate in the afternoon ceremony.

In the lead up to Saturday’s formal commencement ceremonies, a variety of celebrations and graduation-related events will take place on campus.

  • On Thursday, May 14, the UW Oshkosh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will celebrate the graduation of its second cohort. The celebration will take place at the Alumni Welcome and Conference Center (AWCC), beginning with a student showcase. Students will display their business ideas to guests beginning at 11 a.m., followed by a graduation ceremony at 12 p.m. Notable speakers will include Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt, Shark Tank judge and entrepreneur Kevin Harrington, Alta Resources CEO Jim Beré and student entrepreneurs Jordan Mather and Dan Brosman.  Brosman will pitch his business idea, Sizzle, at the Fox Cities Chamber “America’s Pitch Tank” event on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
  • On Friday, May 15, a pre-commencement celebration will be held for a cohort of Korean students who are graduating with master’s degrees from the educational leadership program. The celebration will take place at the AWCC at 10:30 a.m.
  • On Friday, May 15, a graduation celebration will be held for 30 College of Nursing students who will graduate from the accelerated bachelor’s degree program. The celebration takes place at the AWCC at 4 p.m.
  • On Friday, May 15, the MBA graduation celebration will also be held at the AWCC. At the event, 66 MBA graduates will be recognized by the College of Business. The celebration takes place from 6 until 9 p.m.
