Chancellor Andrew Leavitt shared this message on the 2013–2014 Annual Report:

Few other universities in the nation can share a strategic-planning success story like the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s.

UW Oshkosh has developed and expanded to support a population of nearly 14,000 students. Under the leadership of Chancellor Richard H. Wells, it transformed and equipped itself to better test the cutting-edge theory that Wisconsin’s public, regional, comprehensive institutions of higher education can fulfill their academic missions and enhance the quality they provide while embracing roles as local and regional economic development catalysts.

I am thankful for the dedication and passion Chancellor Emeritus Wells led UW Oshkosh with.

We are now poised to start a new chapter in our 144-year-old institution’s story, one built upon the pillars of groundbreaking and quality education, inclusive excellence, the sustainable balance between “people and planet” and a commitment to apply the knowledge and expertise of a campus community of more than 15,000 faculty, staff and students for the betterment of a city, region and state.

UW Oshkosh’s good work will continue with a renewed, strong strategic plan.

In the year ahead, I look forward to working with our leadership team to reengage our University community, our alumni, our UW Oshkosh Foundation Board of Directors, our many advisers, our local and regional leaders, legislators and other friends and neighbors to initiate a new strategic planning process. We will be sure our next plan strongly aligns with and supports the goal of Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation, targeted for 2017. UW Oshkosh will work collaboratively to develop a new plan that heightens our focus, activates even more allies and helps pilot UW Oshkosh to a new era and echelon of achievement and recognition.

With the contributions and guidance of thousands, I look forward to helping develop our next strategic plan–the outlines of the next great chapter for our UW Oshkosh story.
