Nightingale honorees from 2014’s awards evening.

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing (CON) and Board of Visitors will recognize outstanding nurses and celebrate nursing excellence at the Nightingale Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 16 at the UW Oshkosh Alumni Welcome and Conference Center on campus.

Nominations for the award are now being accepted and can be submitted by coworkers, supervisors or patients. The nomination form is available online.

Although nominees do not need to be a UW Oshkosh graduates to be nominated, the CON’s 5,000-plus alumni are encouraged to nominate a coworker or a nurse who cared for them.

The CON and Board of Visitors annually recognize registered nurses and licensed practical nurses involved in direct patient care who exemplify the highest standards of nursing practice. Since 1993, nearly 120 nurses have been awarded the Nightingale honor.

After the nomination deadline of Feb. 2, the Board of Visitors will select the award recipients and present them with the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing Practice at the dinner event. The award entails $1,000 and a piece of artwork provided by healthcare agencies and private donors.
