Matt Howard, founder and CEO of EatStreet, is coming to campus to speak to University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students about his entrepreneurial journey Wednesday, Sept. 17.

This free presentation will be open to all UW Oshkosh students, faculty and staff and will be held from 6-7 p.m. in Sage Hall, room 1210. The presentation will cover Howards’s journey going from UW student to successful entrepreneur in just a few short years.

Howard founded EatStreet with friends less than four years ago, when he was just a student at the University of Wisconsin. Since then, the company has received $8.7 million in funding, from investors stretching from Wisconsin to Silicon Valley and has expanded nationwide. Howard, 25, will be coming in to speak to students about his journey as a student entrepreneur and how he overcame incredible odds to build such a successful company.

Under Howards’s leadership, EatStreet has evolved from a local website in Madison to the fastest growing online food ordering company in the country. Today, they service more than 15,000 restaurants in more than 100 cities. In Oshkosh specifically, residents can use Eatstreet.com to order delivery and takeout from 18 restaurants, earn coupons and get exclusive discounts.

The event is being hosted by the new Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, along with help from the student-led UW Oshkosh Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

Jordan Rhodes, the director of the Alta Resources CEI, is thrilled to have Matt as their first guest speaker.

“He has such an inspiring and relatable story, going from being a student eating Ramen Noodles in his dorm room to building and running a company worth tens of millions of dollars is every student entrepreneur’s dream here,” Rhodes said.

It’s for this reason that Rhodes named the event “From Ramen Noodles to Millions” and marketed it heavily around campus with free packets of Ramen Noodles, among other things.
