For junior marketing major Alexis Brown of Chicago, coming to UW Oshkosh for college was a decision her father Wallace made for her—and she couldn’t be happier.

“He chose the best school for me and knows me very well,” Alexis Brown said. “He took me on a tour, we checked out the website, came for Odyssey and everyone was so nice. I knew it was the school for me.”

“You can’t beat the quality of the education, the support you receive and for me it’s the top college to go to,” she said.

Alexis’ motivation for focusing on her academics while getting involved on campus has everything to do with her family and the support they give her.

“I’m very inspired by my dad. He’s a great guy and I want to follow in his footsteps,” Brown said. “My family always told me to take advantage of every opportunity, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Like her father, Alexis is very involved at UW Oshkosh and is part of a sorority, serves as a mentor and is an Odyssey leader, and says one of the keys to college is keeping an open mind.

“Stay open to everything and everyone and you’ll learn so many new things,” Alexis said. “At UW Oshkosh you can see that everyone supports each other and includes everyone.”
