The 3rd annual Creating a Stronger Community Contest (CSCC) is slated to happen during Earth Week later this month.

The Oshkosh Food Co-op initiative (led by a current UW Oshkosh undergraduate) got its start by winning the first year’s contest, and last year Growing Oshkosh (led by a UW Oshksoh alumna) got a boost by taking home a pile of cash and some new supporters.

Have an idea about improving local quality of life, or know about a cool project that is in the works? Are you involved with a new group or established local club or nonprofit that is planning/starting an innovative initiative?

The Creating a Stronger Community contest is about helping push this good stuff forward, and basically anyone from the Oshkosh area, whether individuals or groups, UWO students or local high school students, young or old, with solid plans or just great ideas is welcome to apply.

The proposal is short and easy (with online submission due by April 20) and the finals event–where those who attend have the opportunity to vote and choose the winner–is a lot of fun.

Finalists will be announced at the Earth Week banquet at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 21 (at the new Alumni Welcome and Conference Center), with the CSCC finals event to follow at Becket’s Center Court (2 Jackson St., Oshkosh) on Thursday, April 24, from 7-9 p.m.
