In celebration of Women’s History Month, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Women’s Center, 717 W. Irving Ave., will host “Rosie the Reader” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 26. The free, open event at the center is an empowering children’s hour featuring a reader dressed as Rosie the Riveter. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite person in women’s history, be they suffragists, female athletes, and allies of women’s rights. The center has been collecting books with positive female role models that will be featured during the children’s hour, including: “The Paper Bag Princess,” by Robert Munsch; “Mommy, Mama, and Me,” by Lesléa Newman; “Wilma Unlimited: How Wilma Rudolph Became the World’s Fastest Woman,” by Kathleen Krull and many more.
