From baseball to golf and from books to music, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh alumni can take part in a variety of fun activities and outings this summer.

“We always try to offer a range of interesting activities for our alumni to enjoy throughout the year, including some held in partnership with other campus departments and community organizations,” said UW Oshkosh alumni director Christine Gantner. “Our goal is to provide opportunities for our grads to get together to socialize and engage with fellow alumni and, perhaps, experience or learn something new in the process.”

UWO athletics is hosting two golf fundraisers:  the UW Oshkosh Football Golf Outing, sponsored by the Titan Touchdown Club, 8 a.m. on June 14, Lake Breeze Golf Club, Winneconne; and the 2013 UW Oshkosh Titans Golf Classic, 11:30 a.m. on July 26, Oshkosh Country Club.

Rock out on the Fox River at the annual free alumni Waterfest night, beginning at 5:45 p.m. on June 20 at the Leach Amphitheater. Stop by the UWO Alumni Association celebration in the gazebo to catch up with fellow alumni and to pick up some UWO alumni swag.

Alumni must register in advance for the rock fest’s opening night to see Hairball!, Cebar Tomorrow Sound and Manzana Salsa at no cost. Non-alumni guests will pay normal admission rates.

In July, alumni are invited to celebrate the publication of UWO alumna Jess (Martin) Riley’s latest book, Mandatory Release.  Meet the author, listen to a reading from the book, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and take home a list of Riley’s favorite summer reading picks from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 16 at Becket’s Restaurant in Oshkosh.

To reserve your spot at this fundraiser in support of the Winnebago County Literacy Council, send $25 per person to WCLC, 106 Washington, Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54901.

At the end of July, UW Oshkosh alumni can enjoy America’s favorite pastime at a Timber Rattlers game versus the Burlington Bees on July 29 or  a Milwaukee Brewers game versus the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 31.

At the Timber Rattlers game, enjoy an all-you-can-eat picnic buffet, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for children 10 and under (children under 3 are free but must sit on a parent’s lap).  Transportation is on your own for this event, co-hosted by the UW Oshkosh Learning in Retirement group. Stadium parking is $5, payable upon arrival.

RSVP with payment by July 15.

The Brewers game in Chicago costs $40 per person for the game ticket and complimentary hors d’oeuvres at a pregame alumni social at the Cubby Bear, 1059 W. Addison St. Tickets to the 7:05 p.m. game will be distributed at the social, which begins at 5 p.m. Tickets for the game are limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis. Alumni and friends are welcome, however, to attend the social only.

For either of the baseball events, make checks payable to the UW Oshkosh Foundation and send to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Alumni Relations Office, 800 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI 54901.
