This day in UW Oshkosh history – Jan. 5, 1953: Jim Gantner, the first Titans baseball player to play in the major leagues as a position player, is born in Fond du Lac, Wis. The 1973-1974 letter-winner was drafted as a shortstop in the 12th round of the 1974 amateur draft by the Milwaukee Brewers, making his debut with the club as a third baseman in 1976.
